Australia: Fraser Island

I discovered Fraser Island with Cool Dingo. Fraser is the largest sand island in the world. We kicked the trip off with a dip in Lake McKenzie, Fraser’s most beautiful lakeside beach. After that, we went to the historical heart, Central Station, for a rainforest boardwalk. It’s weird to see that trees and plants can grow in sand. On the second day, we drove over the beach with a 4WD-bus. We stopped at the Maheno wreck on 75-Mile Beach and visited the Pinnacles Coloured Sands. We climbed Indian Head for Fraser’s most spectaculair views and we could experience a natural rock pool jacuzzi at The Champagne Pools.

Ik heb Fraser Island verkend met Cool Dingo. Fraser is het grootste zandeiland ter wereld. We begonnen de trip met een verfrissende duik in Lake McKenzie.  Daarna zijn we naar het historische hart van het eiland getrokken, Central Station, voor een wandeling door het regenwoud. Het is raar om te zien dat bomen en planten uit zand kunnen groeien. Op de tweede dag zijn we over het strand gereden met een 4×4-bus. We stopten aan het scheepswrak Maheno op 75-Mile Beach en aan de Pinnacles Coloured Sands. We  beklommen Indian Head voor Fraser’s meest spectaculaire uitzichten en we konden een natuurlijke jacuzzi uitproberen aan de Champagne Pools.
