Australia: Sailing the Whitsundays

I spent 2 days on Silent Night. This performance sailing vessel is credited with multiple wins on the east coast racing circuit. She even won the prestigious Sydney- Hobart race in her division back in the day. Now that she is on retirement, she’s permanently based in the gorgeous Whitsunday islands. There are only 12 passengers on board. That’s a big plus. There are a lot of boats in the Whitsundays. Some vessels even carry over 200 passengers. It was good fun with skipper Cameron and deckhand Taylor. We could get involved in hands on sailing, if we wanted. We went snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef and we went out for a beach walk on Whiteheaven Beach.

Ik heb 2 dagen doorgebracht op Silent Night. Deze zeilboot heeft verschillende wedstrijden gewonnen aan de Australische oost-kust. Ze heeft ooit zelfs de prestigieuze Sydney- Hobart race gewonnen in haar divisie. Nu ze op pensioen is, vaart ze rond in de prachtige Whitsunday eilanden. Er zijn slechts 12 passagiers aan boord. Dat is een groot plusplunt. Er zijn veel boten in de Whitsundays. Sommige boten hebben meer dan 200 passagiers aan boord. Leuke tijden met kapitein Cameron en dekhand Taylor. We konden helpen met het zeilen, als we wilden. We zijn gaan snorkelen op verschillende locaties in het Great Barier Reef en gaan wandelen op Whiteheaven Beach.
